Who We Are
Welcome to Tech Jacks Bulletin, the online sanctuary for the unsung 'heroes' of the digital realm—IT security professionals. If you’re here, you’ve probably been on the receiving end of some side-eye from your coworkers, the ones who think security is just “getting in the way.” Or maybe you’ve found yourself, coffee in hand, wondering why nobody takes your warnings about data breaches and governance structures seriously. We get it. We’ve been there too. And why we "enhance" our coffee as needed, *wink
Hello everyone! My name is Derrick Jackson and I created Tech Jacks as a living and breathing extension of one of my favorite activities, teaching and implementing Information Security.
Tech Jacks Solutions is an LLC that was created to help educate emerging IT and Security professionals as well as partnering occasionally with businesses to assist them with manifesting their business strategy in a manner that leverages cost-effective regulatory, privacy, and security alignment.
Too often, organizations are required to execute initiatives, projects, and roadmaps that require complex integrations, control requirements, etc.
As the founder of Tech Jacks Solutions, Derrick Jackson has leveraged over 10 years of professional experience in supporting enterprise IT infrastructures.
Our Mission
At Tech Jacks Bulletin, we’re all about giving a voice to those in the trenches of IT security and compliance. Our mission is to inform, entertain, and empower. We want to arm you with practical insights, the latest industry updates, and yes, even a few laughs. We believe in the power of straightforward advice, honest conversations, and a bit of humor to navigate the sometimes thankless, often misunderstood world of cybersecurity. Think of us as your digital ally in the fight against chaos, confusion, and (hopefully) endless compliance checklists.
What You’ll Find Here
We’re not your typical dry, jargon-filled security site. Here, you’ll find content that speaks to the real, unfiltered experiences of security professionals. From humorous takes on security snafus to deep dives into the latest frameworks and best practices, our posts are built to entertain and educate in equal measure. We cover topics like:
- Security and Compliance Best Practices: From NIST to ISO, we break down the standards without the headache.
- Real Talk on Security Culture: The hard truths about silos, governance, and why nobody wants to invite us to the “cool kids” meetings.
- Tech Insights & Tools: Practical guides on tools and technologies that make your job easier—or at least more bearable.
- Community Perspectives: Stories, experiences, and advice from security pros who have seen it all (and survived to tell the tale).
Why We’re Different
We’re here to cut through the noise. No sugarcoating, no excessive jargon, just real talk about what it’s like to work in IT security today. We know the importance of security, but we also know that it’s not all about enforcing rules and patting ourselves on the back. It’s about balancing protection with practicality, working with other departments (even when they’d rather we didn’t), and finding ways to add value to the business without alienating everyone else.
Join Us
Whether you’re a seasoned CISO, a compliance newbie, or just someone who takes InfoSec seriously (but not too seriously), we’re glad you’re here. Dive into our articles, join the conversation, and help us build a community where security pros can laugh, learn, and stay ahead of the curve—without losing sight of what really matters.
A Hobby of Mine
Photography
With that all being said, I’d like to reiterate that we all need as many hobbies as we can handle to help bring some levity and relaxation. Infosec (and dealing with people) can take its toll.
As a beginning photographer, I thought, why not try to capture beautiful or interesting things to prove that the world is, in fact, a beautiful and cool place? Or at the very least, to remind myself that I can still see the good in it. Photographs help me create "evidence"—in case of an audit.
I might not be great, but it’s a start, and I enjoy it!
